Take a break from your fast moving life!

Well, from the title you must be thinking this is yet another preachy article which we find on the internet. Chill, this is about my experience, the things I have learned after taking a break from my routine life. To start with, we all have a bucket list right? Ok, let’s assume a majority of us have it. I too have one which did not include a trip to the USA. I never thought I would be spending 3 months of my life in the states but I did and am glad, I did it.

Sudden plans are so good. I decided to take a break from my life as I am not someone who likes monotonous things. It was time to take a step back, try something new and explore for myself. Somewhere there was a mind block because of the routine life that we all live (I am sure you all agree with me). In this journey, I have learned and experienced something which I would love to share. I hope you will enjoy this journey as much as I did!

Lesson 1 Don’t think too much: Some plans are impromptu and they are better that way. Because the more you think, the more you are likely to cancel it. I did what I wanted to do.
Decide.Take Action. Pack your bags. Wush! Travel. 😎

I am not someone who will easily mingle with people (At Least that’s what I think) So, coming to a different country was altogether a different experience. It was scary for me but that’s where I learned my second lesson.

Lesson 2 It’s okay to talk to strangers: I have always loved to know about things people have experienced but didn’t have the guts to go and talk to a stranger. But I have realized that it’s so easy to go and have a small talk with people you don’t know. I regret not doing it before! Anyways there’s always a first time.

I would like to tell you about one person I met during this trip. I was traveling with my sister from Niagara to Chicago and we went to check in our luggage. This person at the counter must be in his 40s started talking to us. He asked for our passports, I handed them over and he was so glad to see that we are from India. He apparently sees an Indian doctor and loves Indian Chicken Tikka masala and told us that soon he was going to try butter chicken. We were so surprised and happy to meet him. His name was Patrick and he thought he will change it to Patrick Patel because he loves India and also Shah Rukh Khan. I was so amazed to see the knowledge this man had and was genuinely interested to meet him.

Lesson 3: A smile works wonders: Nowadays we all are so busy with our lives that we hardly get time to sit back, relax and laugh. But, just a smile works wonder even if it’s at random people. Just imagine you are having a bad day and a random person on the street smiles at you (Don't freak out 😉), you will feel so much better! I have decided on doing so regularly. It not only makes the other person feel better but you, yourself feel happy from within.

Lesson 4: Give your hobby/ passion some time: On this trip, I got time to pursue my hobby and work on it. It is so much relaxing and satisfying. By the time we are 21 or 22 we forget what hobbies we had or what was the thing that used to drive us crazy but trips like these gives us the time to think about it and actually do it.

Lesson 5 Be crazy: Don’t talk like this, don’t dance like this, don’t laugh is what we are taught to do but get out of that surrounding and you will realize that honestly, people have no time to look at you or talk about you and be crazy even if they do. Dance, shout, laugh loudly because that’s what makes you, YOU!

Lesson 6 Try new things: This is for me because I generally don’t try new things. You know what, it is my understanding now that trying new things creates excitement. Learn something new that you never thought you would do.

This was my experience. My next thing will be to go on a solo trip. Do share your experience with me, I would love to listen to your travel experiences. ❤️
